Overview
Following the successful first Plasma Observatory Community workshop held in Rome in November 2024, a joint Cluster-Plasma Observatory Workshop will be held in Paris from October 20 to October 24 2025.
Cluster four-spacecraft constellation has been the first ever to study the Earth's Magnetospheric System in 3D, providing an epochal paradigm shift in the field of space plasma physics.
Plasma Observatory seven-spacecraft constellation, one of the three ESA M7 candidates, is now performing a Phase A study undertaking the exciting venture to succeed Cluster for the new, multi-scale era of our Magnetospheric System.
The re-entry of Cluster Rumba (C1) will take place on October 22, followed by Samba (C3) and Tango (C4) in 2026 , ideally leaving the dance floor to the Plasma Observatory larger family.
This joint Workshop aims at celebrating the retirement of Cluster Rumba as well as at presenting ongoing studies based on the wealth of data from Cluster Science Archive, while showing the way to the young Plasma Observatory mission. The status of the Plasma Observatory Phase A study will also be presented, alongside science presentations focused on observational, theoretical and numerical studies of plasma energization and energy transport physics, which defines the science theme of Plasma Observatory.
Joint Cluster-Plasma Observatory workshop:
The workshop is open to the international science community with research interests in particle energisation processes and energy transport.
There are no registration fees.
Location: Centre Jean Monnet/FIAP, 30 rue Cabanis, 75014 PARIS, FRANCE
The workshop will be held at the Auditorium of the FIAP.
WiFi access: eduroam can be used inside FIAP campus .
For those who cannot use eduroam, individual wifi access will be provided on site. To be confirmed
